Ontology Community Approves ONG Tokenomics Adjustment

Ontology Community Approves ONG Tokenomics Adjustment

November 12, 2025 0 By CardanoNews

The Ontology network’s community has approved a proposal to adjust the tokenomics of its ONG token, according to an announcement released on November 12, 2025. The vote, held from October 28 to October 31, 2025, passed with overwhelming support, receiving 117,169,804 votes in favor and zero against.

The approved changes cap the total ONG supply at 800 million and establish a permanent liquidity lock valued at 100 million ONG. These adjustments are intended to enhance long-term sustainability, bolster staking incentives, and facilitate ecosystem development.

“This decision sets ONG on a clear, sustainable path with an 800 million cap, a permanent liquidity lock, and predictable emissions,” said Jun Li, Founder of Ontology. “Together, these improvements are intended to drive higher on-chain usage and transactions as we complete the MainNet v3.0.0 upgrade on December 1, 2025.”

The proposal includes burning 200 million ONG to enforce the new supply cap and extending the release period from 18 to 19 years while maintaining a consistent release rate of 1 ONG per second. Emissions will be allocated towards ONT staking incentives and ecological liquidity.

These changes strengthen Ontology’s position as a reliable infrastructure for decentralized identity, privacy, and trust, supporting initiatives like ONT ID, ONTO Wallet, and Orange Protocol. The network will proceed with phased upgrades beginning November 27, 2025, culminating in the v3.0.0 release on December 1, 2025. Users and stakers require no action during this process. The permanent liquidity lock is enforced by burning LP tokens created during ONG-ONT liquidity provisioning.
