Cardano has partnered with Wirex to launch its first ADA card, facilitating broader adoption and utility for the cryptocurrency. Unveiled at the 2025 Cardano Summit in Berlin, the card integrates with Visa’s tokenised digital asset platform and supports over 685 cryptocurrencies, including ADA, BTC, and ETH.

The card, accessible through the Wirex app, combines crypto and fiat functionalities, enabling users to spend digital assets and access features like crypto-backed loans, yield accounts, and trading products. Users can earn up to 8% cashback on purchases and have access to ATM withdrawals.

The initiative addresses the limited usage of crypto for payments, despite the presence of over 820 million crypto wallets globally. The partnership aims to bridge blockchain technology with traditional financial systems, offering a familiar payment experience for accessing decentralized finance (DeFi).

Phillip Pon, CEO of EMURGO, highlighted the card’s “mobile-ready, fintech-friendly” design. Georgy Sokolov, Wirex’s co-founder, stated the partnership marks a turning point for the network, integrating digital assets into everyday financial life.

Future plans include a non-custodial version in 2026, offering users full asset control, alongside features like auto-staking, tokenized real-world asset yields (RWA), and expanded DeFi integrations.

Wirex, processing over $20 billion in transactions and serving over six million users, views the collaboration as a key step in connecting the Web3 economy with traditional finance.

A portion of the card’s profits will be directed to the Cardano Treasury to ensure the ecosystem’s long-term sustainability.

The partnership provides Cardano with a direct route into mainstream payments while incentivizing users to utilize ADA in their daily financial activities.
